We went to Punto Viejo with Marcell and Tenille today. Their kids, Colin and Demi, go to school with Lila.
Punto Viejo is the southern end of Bastiementos and looks out toward Zapatilla. It is exactly what one pictures when you think of the perfect Caribbean beach. Tenille went for work. To photograph three plots of land for sale right on the waterfront here. She's a real estate broker.
We left under a huge grey storm cloud that dumped out on us soon enough. The cloud passed. Sun came out to make the day perfect for the beach. The cloud returned just as we left Punto Viejo and dropped a bit more rain.
Lila cried as they left us on our dock. She didn't want to see Colin go. She doesn't want to leave her friends here.
When i first told Lila we'd be leaving Bocas soon, she made it clear she doesn't want to go. "But I love Bocas. I'm happy here and I like my school." As if that wasn't enough, she continued to ask, "Why do we keep going places and not staying?"
It couldn't be clearer that it's time to find a place to stay for a good long while. I'll admit, I'm not adverse to the idea of starting all over again somewhere else, Again. But it would also be nice to stay and get to know people better here. Noah and I are going out alone tonight for the first time every in Bocas. We finally know enough people well enough to feel comfortable leaving Lila alone with someone here.
This is the current plan. We go back to Atlanta and start looking for solid work. We will look in Holland, near Cinque Terre in Italy, possible somewhere in Arizona, New Mexico, Vermont and New Hampshire, and finally in Buenos Aires. We'll see what comes through and make our decision from there.
This blog is going to change too. I'd like for Noah to have a bigger part in it. So I'll be posting some of his artwork. Much of which he does with Lila. Often, Lila will do a pen drawing while Noah paints. Or they paint together. Maybe more of my writing, too I'd also like to focus on different topics.
So we all move on in a myriad of ways.I'm going to shower and get ready for tonight. Check back tomorrow when I'll be posting as part of an online event hosted by Amnesty International called Bloggers Unite for Human Rights.
