On the road to Puritama's thermal baths from San Pedro. Middle of the desert, nothing for miles around and absolutely beautiful. I suggest renting a car with a few others and choosing a day the tour agencies in town have their trips planned elsewhere. You can stop as often as you want to enjoy the breathtaking scenery and will have the baths to yourself. Relax, bring a picnic and hike in the canyon beyond the warm springs.
Even in this short post, you have a way of conveying the scenery and beauty of this place like no other. I can't wait to leave New York and experience beauty such as this. Just hitting the road and encountering natural beauty. Sigh...

Lovely picture. It has a way of truly capturing the moment at hand. I love when you can see a picture and emotions rush in. You feel the tranquility and stillness of the area, it’s like you are there. It's an amazing thing when you can look at a picture multiple times and never get bored. Each new look brings about a new feeling, new thought, and a new state of mind.
I agree with going on your own. Tour guides and groups of people have a tendency of taking away from the experience. Yes, they do provide valuable information but nothing which you can’t research on your own.

Can anyone recommend a good, friendly hostel in Pucon, where I can meet other travelers. Do I need to book in advance, or do you think I can just turn up. I am heading there this weekend.
