Hard to believe we've been in Atlanta almost two weeks. My parents have been babysitting a lot, so Noah and I have had time to go out. Time? We've been out more often in the past two weeks than I think we've been out in the past two years.
Sometimes we go alone and just go somewhere and chat quietly over a coffee. But more often than not, we've been meeting up with Atlanta couchsurfers for drinks and music. That's where we were last night. And a couple nights before that, too. There's a brunch with some friends coming up, and an engagement brunch for an old friend from high school who I am now in touch with thanks to the lovely world of Facebook.
Oh, and yes, we're almost ready to go to Panama. Five days. FIVE DAYS.
We first started talking about going to Panama over two years ago. Maybe even close to three years. It's hard to believe that after all this time it is actually happening. We leave Atlanta Tuesday evening and arrive in Panama City four hours later.
What will we do after we arrive? The general plan: Figure out where we'll be staying long term and find jobs. There are lots of other possibilities. I met a woman who invited me to join her at a surf school in Bocas del Toro. There's also a couchsurfer there who owns an organic farm and two boats. Perhaps we will be able to stay with him for a bit. Noah's wonderful step-sister Melissa has offered for us to stay with them for as long as we want also offered some time in a beach house. It is an unbelievably generous offer (and for that alone, I thank you). Other possibilities: a horse farm in Uruguay, family of friends in Colombia and Bolivia, a good friend in Sao Paolo and his sister, friends in Nicaragua, and couchsurfers everywhere.
Who knows what comes next?
